Hydrocarbon Downstream Petrochemical Pumps & Compressors

The engineering of Sundyne pumps and compressors is typically very high. Sundyne is good at offering products that fit the specifications of petrochemical applications.

Reliable, Compact and Efficient Pumps and Compressors for Downstream Petrochemical Plants

Petrochemicals are a specific set of organic chemical compounds mainly derived from oil and gas, via hydrocarbon cracking and chemical processing. Petrochemical plants are frequently located close to or integrated within oil refineries, to take advantage of produced feedstocks. These feedstocks – including ethylene, propylene, methanol, hydrogen and aromatic hydrocarbons – are then used to generate thousands of useful polymeric chemicals for industrial and consumer use. Sundyne’s experts   design  and manufacture pumps and compressors that are especially useful in the petrochemical industry, because they meet exacting API, ISO and ASME standards for safety, reliability and efficiency.

Olefins

Olefins includes ethene, propene, butenes and butadiene. Ethylene and propylene are important sources of industrial chemicals and plastics products. Butadiene is used in making synthetic rubber. Petrochemicals are produced using extreme temperatures (over 1500 ⁰F) and pressures (over 1000 psi). This process requires large amounts of energy and sophisticated engineering. Petrochemical plants utilize many of the same tools as refineries to purify the chemicals for distribution to chemical manufacturers.

Aromatics

Most common aromatic compounds are derivatives of benzene, an aromatic hydrocarbon common in petroleum and its distillates. They are extracted from complex mixtures obtained by the refining of oil, or by distillation of coal tar.  They  are used to produce a range of popular  chemicals and polymers, including styrene, phenol, aniline, polyester and nylon. Aromatics are produced by catalytic reforming of naphtha. Sundyne integrally geared centrifugal pumps and compressors are widely utilized for aromatics processing.

Methanol

Process engineers produce methanol by hydrogenation of carbon monoxide, natural gas, coal, biomass and recycled carbon dioxide in petrochemical plants. Methanol is used as a feedstock to commodity chemicals, including formaldehyde, acetic acid, methyl tert-butyl ether, dehydration, de-icing and it is also a fuel additive.
